With the specialist fishing chair market really heating up, manufacturers have been forced to lower there costs. This really is great news for those of us that enjoy spending time on the bank – not only have manufacturers been forced to drive their costs down, they’ve also had to maintain quality at the same time. There are a number of good chairs currently on the market for under 50 quid and here they are:

Heading up the pack is the Vision Kenwick Carp Fishing Chair and at around the £25 mark you get a lot for your money; four independent adjustable legs (all with mud feet), a heavily padded seat and back rest, and a lightweight yet strong frame. The manufacturer claims that this super strong fishing chair will take up to 20 stone in weight!

Second up is XQMax Compact Carp Fishing Chair at only £3 more than the vision chair making it £28 you again it has adjustable legs with big fat mud feet on them, preventing the chair from sinking in to mud. Although the frame is steel it is powder coated, making it corrosion resistant and incredibly strong. The seating area is made from water resistant PVC and is heavily padded. The fold down design means that you’ll easily get it in the back of the car.

This Lightweight Stalking Fishing Chair is third in the pack. Although at £34 it may seem expensive for what your are getting compared to the feature rich previously mentioned chairs – but what you shouldn’t forget is that this is a stalking chair – you’re not necessarily going to be spending hours sat on it. For that purpose you can’t really compare the price with the previous chairs because really your paying for a chair that’s super lightweight and strong, so that you can carry it around all day and it can take knocks and scrapes.

The fourth ones a bit of curve ball, it’s not actually a chair at all – it’s a bed chair! At a penny less than 50 quid the Vision Kenwick Bed Chair offers outstanding value for money that can’t really be competed with. It’s 6 leg design allows it to take up to 20 stone in weight and the thick mattress means if the fishing’s quite you’re guaranteed to get a good nights sleep!

The Bank Boss Chair is the top of the range fishing chair form the TV celebrity fisherman Matt Hayes company TF Gear (Total Fishing Gear)

In terms of specialist fishing chair it ticks all of the boxes. It has a fully adjustable back rest so you can get that comfy position for spending hours lazing on the fishing banks, and many users of this chair have commented on how comfortable this chair really is. Part of how comfortableness can probably be credited it its totally independent legs that can be adjusted to suit any terrain or sloping bank to within reason. The legs also have large mud feet on the base of them preventing the feet from sinking in to muddy banks.

Back on to ticking the boxes, the back rest is also adjustable so that you can get the right angle. The main seating area of this chair are also hevily padded, so as I mentioned above users of this chair really are very happy with the comfortableness of it. As if having a comfortable chair to sit and fish from all day wasn’t good enough there are a number of attachments and add-ons available, and this means that you can use rod rests, bite alarms and feeder arms when you are fishing from a concrete or other solid surface. It really does get rid of the need for hammering bank sticks in to the ground and scaring fish off in the first place. In terms of the attachments you can get there are:

• Tri-pod feeder arm

• Rear rest pole
• Rod rest set
• Umbrella arm

The one negative that people have commented on with this chair is the weight of it. Personally I don’t think that this is such an issue, if you want a lighter chair you have to be prepared to pay for and with the bargain price of the TF Gear Bank Boss Chair you can hardly be quibbling over a few grams!

With specialist fishing chairs  now being well established, products are now beginning to move up to the next level. Korum a UK based angling company have come up with the accessory chair. So what is the Accessory chair?

• You can even get a kit that will temporary convert the chair in to a trolley so you can get all your kit to the swim in comfort.

At this point you may be asking why is that useful, well, how many times have you been fishing from a concrete or solid standing? How many times has the ground been that baked in the middle of summer that you can’t get a rod rest or umbrella in the ground? The Accessory Chair removes all of these issues because all of the accessories mount to the chair and therefore do not have to be put in the ground at all. Simple but ingenious. Of all of the fishing chair markets the specialist anglers marketplace is the broadest. They are the hardcore fishermen (and fisherwoman) that are highly passionate and enthusiastic about their sport.
