With the specialist fishing chair market really heating up, manufacturers have been forced to lower there costs. Although at £34 it may seem expensive for what your are getting compared to the feature rich previously mentioned chairs – but what you shouldn’t forget is that this is a stalking chair – you’re not necessarily going to be spending hours sat on it. For that purpose you can’t really compare the price with the previous chairs because really your paying for a chair that’s super lightweight and strong, so that you can carry it around all day and it can take knocks and scrapes.

The fourth ones a bit of curve ball, it’s not actually a chair at all – it’s a bed chair! At a penny less than 50 quid the Vision Kenwick Bed Chair offers outstanding value for money that can’t really be competed with. It’s 6 leg design allows it to take up to 20 stone in weight and the thick mattress means if the fishing’s quite you’re guaranteed to get a good nights sleep!

New to angling? This may be your first chair.

For the novice angler there is a limited range of fishing chairs available, many of the chairs from the camping market will be suitable for use. There is the standard fold out chair based on the traditional 1970’s type deckchair that quite simply appears to fold in half. There’s the newer equivalent of this where the chair folds in on it’s self and then there’s the well loved director style chairs. I would recommend the second type of chair that folds in on it’s self – it folds down very compactly, usually comes with a bag and is now very cheap to get hold of.

There is a slightly wider range of fishing chairs available to the roving angler. Because the roving angler is past the ‘novice’ stage of the sport, they are more likely to be willing to spend a little bit more on a chair. Manufacturers  are quick to latch on to this and hence there is a wider range available. There is the standard fold in half chair, but there are also the stool type chairs and the backpack/rucksack type chairs. All of these chairs focus on transportability in terms of their size and weight. I wouldn’t be so brave to recommend a chair to the roving angler – the sorts of fishing roving anglers do is vast and to recommend one chair would be almost impossible and doing them a disservice.
